The Great Outdoors

At The Beehive, we recognise that some children prefer to learn outdoors and therefore children can request to go in the garden at anytime of day. Children have access to wealth of resources in our adjoining garden including large climbing equipment to develop gross motor skills, a range of ride-on toys to promote co-ordination along with the skills of patience and turn-taking, a variety of obstacles to practice balance along with a large sand-pit. We go outside in all weathers and ask parents to provide suitable clothing including wellington boots and waterproofs.

In Busy Bees, the children go out to the Meadow at least twice each week.. We plant fruit and vegetables in our vegetable patch, make delicious cakes in the mud kitchen and use magnifying glasses to explore the bug hotel, searching for minibeasts. The children explore the den area, climb on the large logs and enjoy the freedom of running around in such a vast area of open space. We teach children to care and respect for the environment; sometimes making bird feeders to hang in the trees, ensuring the vegetable patch is watered and learning about the different plants and tress in the Meadow.
